The fly-fishing experience touching the Arctic Circle

International Women Fly Fishers Gathering next year will offer several different activities to include Fly-fishing.  Your stay will be with us in Vuollerim Sweden at an Inn that is comfortable and cozy, with incredible views of the surrounding forest and Luleå River.  The Inn started as a project where 140 villagers, made up of private citizens, associations and business joined together to develop the Hotel into a viable business.  Rooms were adopted and decorated by various villagers and have a unique and individual feeling.  Talented chefs prepare meals utilizing local produce to create homemade Lappish food.

This opportunity will provide anglers with the ability to fly fish various waters in the area with travel to several different types of environments, consisting of lakes, streams and fast moving water.  You will see the beautiful large forests that make up Lapland along with its’ lakes and rivers.  A land once covered by glaciers that have long since vanished, but left behind their melted ice in the many lakes that dot the land.  Each of these lakes and rivers provides anglers with the chance to hook one of the many splendid and sometimes quite large trout and char.  This is truly a fisherman’s paradise.

Vuollerim  – a Sami name that means “the downstream calm water between more rapid streaming waters” – is located at the point where the little and big Luleå rivers join and then flows to the Baltic Sea. It is one of Sweden’s largest and most treasured rivers. It is here where one of the oldest and most northern people lived some 6000 years ago when this area was a delta.  Vuollerim offers a unique experience, not only from its vast waters and nature, but also by its people.  Vuollerim is a place where people want to know your name and you will experience an inviting and relaxed atmosphere.
