Welcome to Lapland Vuollerim

July 10
Arrival

Transfer from Luleå airport. Check in at hotel.

Experience the calm and quiet of nature as you walk along Mirror Pond, an area where ancient people used to gather 6000 years ago.  Then join us for dinner and drinks as you mingle with the villagers who will be your guides in the coming days.

July 11
The big char

We will start early in the morning around 2am for chance to fish for some giant char on a small lake.  We will provide the Belly boat, also known as float tubes, but you will need to bring along your waders.  Become one of the fishing stories you always hear about by landing one of the large 8 kg char.
Return to the Hotel around 5am and catch a few hours of sleep before the next adventure.

After a late breakfast, you can choose one of the activities below or visit the homestead, “Hembygdsgården”, by your own, with great Swedish waffles and local handcrafts.

During the evening, you will experience a “house jumping dinner”. Here the villagers open up their homes for a traditional dinner party; starters are at the first house, then stroll together to the second house for the main course and lastly the dessert and coffee at the third house. A truly unforgettable event where you can meet and get to know warm and genuine people.

July 12
The holy grail of fly-fishing adventure- Grayling

Journey to a secret stream where you will have a chance to catch a record Swedish Grayling, with a fly rod and dry fly.  During our ride, you will hear how it was to fish this area in the 1970’s as there were few roads or trails, not a fire or light was to be seen and the fishing was legendary.  Have a night snack next to a campfire and relax between fishing sessions around the hours of the midnight sun. On the way back we’ll stop at the Arctic Circle for pictures.

July 13
Take a scenic journey through Lappish forests

View the many wonders of nature as we travel to an area covered by lakes.  The area we will travel was formed over hundreds of thousands of years by glacier forces.  We will be fishing for large trout and char.   This is truly a fisherman’s paradise.  For those that would like to keep their catch, we can bring it back to the inn and prepare it on the open grill for our evening meal.

July 14
Storytelling with local villager

Take a safari through the forest at the Arctic Circle. Sit by the fire outside an old rustic cabin used during the days when loggers used the river to move the timber to the mills and listen to stories from local storyteller as they were told long ago.  You will experience a story telling tradition that has been passed down from generation to generation. Lunch will be a special Sami meal (Suovas) prepared on an open fire and if we’re lucky, we can locate a favorite local berry, cloudberries, and have a special treat.

For those who would like one last fishing trip, we will head back to the Belly boats for a chance at a record char. Others can head back to the inn for a rest before the evening event or do individual activities.

In the evening, we will have a dinner at an old Farm House that was built in the 1700’s and sits on the Luleå River. You will also have the option of taking a dip in the river and warm-up in the wood-fire sauna, which sits on the rivers bank.
