May 10th, remains to be an auspicious day for myself in the chapters of milestones and coincidences. May 10th marks the day I helped co-found the first Women Fly Fishing club in the Netherlands in the year 2008. This year, 2009, it is the day that six women from three different flags came together to fish in Austria, and along with these coincidences, May 10th also allowed me to remember my sister Gloria’s birthday, and celebrate Mothers Day, being a proud mom of four children and three grandchildren.

It has been seven years since I stepped on the European stage of fly-fishing promoting IWFF with the tag of being the Goodwill Ambassador. My goals and aspirations included welcoming women around the European continent to an organization called International Women Fly Fishers (IWFF), with the intent that one day I would host a gathering of women to join me as a team of IWFF women on the waters to meet and fly-fish.

My reward for hosting such an event brought six remarkable women for a week stay at Hotel Pension Wutte, nestled in St.Primus, Austria. The week followed a script that I could not have written any better, truly a gift from the universe, a moment of time that I look back in awe of our time together. Suffice to say that each of us will carry not only memories of the waters we fished in Austria and Slovenia, but also look back on the gifts of each other.

I look forward to Austria 2010, stay in touch for a calendar date!
