The International Women Fly Fishers, Forss House Hotel, and Highland Wild Trout Fishing
invite you to join them in a
Gathering of Fly Fishing Women Caithness, Scotland June 30-July 4, 2011

The highland lakes and rivers of Scotland beckon you to incomparable brown trout fishing during mayfly time and to beautiful coastal rivers for exceptional sea trout fishing.  Join participants from many other countries as we celebrate women in fly fishing in one of the countries where fly fishing began.

The event will commence on Thursday, June 30, 2011 at the lovely, historic Forss House Hotel with a welcome cocktail party. Then, we’ll fish either rivers or lochs on Friday, Saturday and Sunday for brownies or trout and return to Forss House for some of their legendary cuisine each evening.  On Sunday evening we’ll have slides from each of the countries represented, as well as, our own fishing adventures during our time together.

Our special guest will be Lesley Crawford, author of six books, guide and all-round expert on fly fishing in Scotland and throughout the British Isles.  Lesley will help organize the fishing, choose the flies, recommend the techniques, and much more,  as we enjoy some of her favourite haunts.

LODGING - - Package #1 Forss House (basic room/B+B Single) - Thursday thru Sunday £380 ($607 US as of 8/15/10) (lodging at Twin Lodges adjacent to the hotel). Packed lunch £8 ($12 US) Dinner £35 ($55 US).

Package #1 Forss House (basic room/B+B Double 2-sharing) - Thursday thru Sunday £500 ($799 US as of 8/15/10) lodging at Twin Lodges adjacent to the hotel. Packed lunch £8 ($12 US) Dinner £35 per person ($55 US).

Package #2 Forss House (deluxe room/B+B Single) – Thursday thru Sunday £440 ( $703 US as of 8/15/10) (lodging at River House or in Main Hotel). Packed lunch £8 ($12 US) Dinner £35 ($55 US).

Package #2 Forss House (deluxe room B+B Double 2 sharing) – Thursday thru Sunday £640 ($1,023 US as of 8/15/10) (lodging at River House or in Main hotel). Packed lunch £8 ($12 US) Dinner £35 ($55 US).

FISHING

Loch Trout mayfly fishing - Various waters cost £5.00 to £15.00 per day bank wading.  Boat hire £20 to £30 per boat, normally two sharing. Gillies and engines for boat paid separately. Early July is peak season for Highland mayfly and the fishing is excellent.

Tidal River saltwater sea trout fishing - Free or around £7.00 per day (dependent on location). Early July sees the main run of finnock (small sea trout) for the highlands.

Spate River Salmon fishing – day tickets approx £50.00 with limited availability, advisable not to book in advance, dependent on water height.  Trout can be found in spate rivers; however the loch trout are much better in terms of size and value.  

 Loch and/or River Gillies – approx £50 per day arranged in advance if required.

Reservations should be made directly with the hotel for lodging and meals package. Other lodging available locally. Fishing location-type and gillies must be reserved in advance, with Lesley Crawford . Fishing is paid for on arrival at the Gathering.
