Snow in the valley--almond trees in bloom. A plaid
jacket. Warm hospitality. A wild trout, in the palm of a hand. Pine
cones and pine nuts. Laughter. Daylight savings time. Morning and
evening--the roar of the river. Maps. A Piute dream catcher, at the
water’s edge. Granite boulders. Fish jewelry. The Kern emerger.
Snow on the ridge tops. Parr marks. A morning walk. The tree of life
and a damsel fly. Blue heron in repose. Six fish taken, and released.
Animal tracks. Golden mistletoe. Stories. Handmade reel covers and
home grown lemons. River crossings. Hatchery eggs. Sunlight and
shadow—mountains at sunset.
Many, many thanks to Teresa Adams and her husband,
Brian, for organizing this year’s Kern River Rendezvous. Without their
efforts, we would not have had an opportunity to enjoy these delightful
snapshots.
