RENDEZVOUS 2007
Mt. Shasta Ranch Bed and Breakfast Inn
Mt. Shasta, California
In what has now become a tradition, twenty-five IWFF
members traveled from California, Oregon and Washington to attend
the Fourth Mt. Shasta Rendezvous, held June 28 through July 1.
Jennifer Dunn, Taylor Gehweiler and Chrissie Clapp organized this
year’s soiree which featured casting instruction by and on-the-water
clinics with IWFF members Rachel Andras and Mary Ann Dozer and
fishing the extraordinarily beautiful Upper Sacramento, McCloud and
Klamath Rivers. As golden stones rose in droves off the water, we
tried fly after fly, searching for the perfect imitation. This
year’s flies of choice included stones, caddis, Madam X and
stimulators of all kinds.
Other
weekend activities included photography, hiking, sight seeing, a
surprise trout dinner, wine tasting, dessert sharing, a few
“friendly” games of pool and countless opportunities on and off the
water to visit with old friends and to meet new ones.
Eight
new attendees joined the returnees--Carolyn Sutton, Rebecca Blair,
Betty Hui, Eve Solomon, Diane Stemach, Letitia Cutforth, Ann Nash
and Alice Martin. Inn owners Bill and Mary Larsen and their staff
once again showered us with their warm and gracious hospitality,
this year preparing all of our meals. The Fly Shop in Redding, the
Ted Fay Fly Shop in Dunsmuir and The Eagle Creek Fly Shop in Red
Bluff donated items for our goodie bags. Each attendee also received
an IWFF Rendezvous patch—a souvenir of our time together.
In
what has also now become a tradition, before the weekend was over,
organizers volunteered and dates were set for next year’s
Rendezvous. 2008 will mark the fifth Mt. Shasta Rendezvous and the
twenty-fifth year that Bill and Mary Larsen have owned the Inn. Come
join Rendezvous organizers Rebecca Blair, Susan Baer, Rachel Andras,
Betty Hui, Tina Vieira, Glenda Smith and Pam Anderson on June 19 through June 22,
2008 for what promises to be a very special IWFF anniversary
celebration.
Pictures of the 2007 Rendezvous (organized by Tina Vieira and Glenda
Smith) and information about the 2008 Rendezvous will be posted soon
