Dear Friends:
I couldn’t let the Spring Newsletter go to publication without acknowledging some of our members’ recent contributions and accomplishments.
IWFF has a newly designed show banner and booth. Thanks to Susan Baer for all of her efforts on this project. This Newsletter includes a photograph of Susan and the banner. Thanks also to all of our members who volunteered to work at our booths and to otherwise distribute information about IWFF at this year’s fishing and sporting shows.
If you have not visited IWFF’s website lately, you are in for a treat. Thanks to Gary Graham and Susan Baer, the website has a great new look (with more changes and improvements to come).
IWFF has joined the 21st century! Thanks to Vanessa Downs, IWFF’s Facebook page is now up and running. Vanessa graciously offered to set up the page in her “spare time” during the last few weeks of her pregnancy. Congratulations to Vanessa and her husband, Billy, on the birth of their baby girl, Gracie.
Many of our West Coast members were in San Francisco on February 2nd to celebrate the film debut of member Barbara Klutinis’ DVD “Stepping into the Stream”, an extraordinary film about women in fly fishing. This Newsletter includes a DVD review and photographs from the debut. For those of you joining us at the Charleston Festival, you will have an opportunity to see this incredible film.
By the time you receive this Newsletter, many of us will be on our way to the Charleston Festival--to visit the American South, to spend time with friends and (for some of us) to experience something new—fly fishing for redfish. Isn’t it that “something new” that keeps us challenged and interested in this sport? Isn’t it the experience of that “something new” that changes us forever? I am certain that the Summer Newsletter will feature some of our members’ “something new” Charleston fishing adventures.
I look forward to seeing you in Charleston.
