Anna Minnicucci
A member of our Advisory Board recently passed away...MINICUCCI, ANNA J. (Mrs. David S.) a member of the International Women Fly Fishers (IWFF) passed away Monday, June 29, 2010. She was a devoted member of the IWFF Board of Directors from 1998 to 2001, who worked tirelessly chairing the IWFF Newsletter and PR committees while suffering from debilitating heart problems along with a loss of vision.
Anna's writing career began in 1965, with the main focus on political interviews, theater, movie and art reviews and general features, all free-lance. Her outdoor writing began with a weekly column and cartoons in 1980.
She became interested in fly fishing and sporting clays and excelled in both. She attained the State Record for Hickory Shad. Some of her awards consisted of New England Outdoor Writers, the Outdoorsman of the Year, R.I. Federated Sportsmen’s Club, Inc. Sportsperson of the Year, March of Dimes Certificate of Appreciation, R.I. Hunting Association's Sportswriter of the Year Award.
Anna¹s work appeared in: Outdoor Life (state field editor); FlyRod & Reel; The Bamboo Fly Rod; The Providence Journal-Bullentin.
Her weekly columns: The Warwick Beacon, Cranston Herald, Narragansett Times, Coventry Courier, Standard-Times, and the following websites: Rhode Island Fishing & Outdoor Trails and Hunt RI. com. She was the first newsletter editor and originator of the title, The Long Cast, for the Narragansett Chapter of Trout Unlimited newsletter.
Anna used her marketing background and writing abilities to help promote the success of the IGFA campaign for the Ladies Fly Rod Category for World Records which was established in 1998.
Anna was a valuable asset to IWFF and we appreciate the years that she gave to our organization. She will be missed. |
