Trip Itinerary

Day 1—Ride to Clarks Lake where you’ll camp for the evening—4 hour ride broken by a lunch break/fishing stop at Crest Creek for spawning rainbows. Upon arrival, relax or fish prior to a prepared dinner.

Day 2—Take a side trip to the Thousand Island Lake and San Joaquin River to fish for rainbows and golden hybrids. Ride back to Clark Lake for more fishing and the evening meal. Camp at Clarks for the evening.

Day 3—Break camp and ride to Algers Lake, fishing Rush Creek along the way for brooks and rainbows. Fish Algers for larger golden trout and camp for the evening.

Day 4—Spend the entire day fishing to your heart’s content at Algers Lake. Other options include simply relaxing at the campground or hiking the surrounding terrain if you’re feeling adventurous.

Day 5—Fish your favorite spots at Algers in the morning and then get ready to saddle up for the ride back to the  Pack Station after lunch, arriving around 4pm.

The trip begins out of the Frontier Pack Station near June Lake, CA.  Since you must be at the Pack station by 7am on July 14, it’s best to spend the night of July 13 in a local hotel. On the first day you will be partnered with a horse that matches your abilities—experienced riding skills not needed.

From there on, it will be primarily eat, sleep, and fish with a little riding in between. Longest day in the saddle is a four hour ride the first day. Experienced wranglers will take care of the horses, set up your tents and prepare mountain gourmet food made with fresh vegetables, fruits and entrees. Tents, chairs, privy, solar showers, food and non-alcoholic drink provided. Bring your own fishing gear and any wine or beer.

Cost: $948 for IWFF Members; $973 for non-IWWF members plus any costs you incur for local lodging pre and post trip. We will also be collecting a $100 tip in advance for five days with the wranglers—they work hard.  Trip limited to 12 participants so register early—First come, first serve.   $200 non-refundable deposit required by April 30.  If the trip is not full by April 30, it may be open to non-IWFF members.
